Dr Nami Farkhondeh’s Dissertation
Over ten years ago, Dr Nami Farkhondeh worked on his dissertation in which it was re-confirmed that there is a connection between the distance from where the crowns meet on a dental implant to the underlying bone and how the gum tissues grow in between the implant crown and the adjacent teeth.
It was established that in instances of this distance being 5mm or less, the gum tissue would always be present and fully formed. However, in cases where this distance was more than 5mm, the presence and appearance of the gum tissue was far more unpredictable.
